In Iran, Hijab came about with force and intimidation after 1979. Women in Iran got right to vote 1962 before even some country like Switzerland which got that 1972. We have now Sharia Law in Iran which sees women as a commodity for men's sexual desire and considers no right for women. Islamic regime in Iran has been trying to push back women in their hou...ses in walk of social life since 1979. Hijab could have such a key doing that. They tried doing that by force like pouring acid on women face in the streets or press thumbtack on their foreheads if seen with no hijab. They did that with their thugs on the streets as they got chance doing that after 1979 revolution.
The Iranian women have fought back for their freedom daily with no stop during these more than 3 decades. Imposing of 8 years war with Iraq was one key to overcome all resistance and push back all women resistance against such a barbaric Sharia Law in Iran!
That is why Hijab has gained great importance for both sides. On one side Islamic Republic of Iran and political Islam and the other side all those secular elements and freedom militants and people of Iran.
